Holding suspension for storage before stripping and after grinding and purification
The holding suspension operation for the utilization of calcium carbonate is simple when taking into account the thin particle size (<20µm).
Milton Roy Mixing knows that the most difficult part of the process is the concentration of dry substance (40 to 70 percent) that makes the rheological behavior singular. The fluid behaves in a similar way to a pseudoplastic or a Bingham fluid, and the agitated volumes are rather high in these cases. The fluid will likely need a storage area of 500m3, which presents a significant challenge
To remedy this issue, Milton Roy Mixing provides impellers with axial flow in order to obtain positive holding-suspension results. We recommend:
- A high-diameter impeller with the ability to agitate through the entire tank
- A low speed (combined with a high diameter) to obtain a shear that masters the fluid flow
It is important to monitor the dissipation of energy consumption (with the goal of obtaining the lowest possible amount) in relation to the high-density volumes.
HM agitators provide a customized solution for steps in water treatment that must be studied in order to find specific solutions.
The Robin A5 type is used in an open tank at atmospheric pressure.
The B5 type is used when a simple tightness is required to avoid contact between the product and the atmosphere mixing under few mbars of pressure or vacuum, or when the product is hazardous or must be kept in an inert atmosphere).
The E5 head offers high flexion strength and a long shaft. The shaft is guided with a radial bearing located within the pedestal.
